What's In A Month?

Posted by special_child at 12:48 AM on April 17, 2006.

Well... certainly a lot.

But in general, I wasn't able to update my blog for a month, that's what's in! Tsk tsk tsk. But now that I'm less busy than usual, I would like to welcome myself back to the Tabulas control panel and type my mind away.

I don't know why my entries go less and less by the month, but it might just be because I don't have the luxury of time and Internet connection. In fact, I have postponed a lot of entries that would really be typed in (including the Farce entries 2 and 3, and more updates and news). But I'm trying my best to make more meaningful yet personal entries.

There are loads upon loads of happenings, so let me summarize these through my Top Ten List.

Top Ten Happenings The Last Thirty-One Days

10. attended a house (s)warming and a birthday celebration in a Php5M home in Baliwag
9. played badminton, but only for 45 minutes (Bitin!)
8. went to seven churches for Visita Iglesia (Malate, Ermita, St. Vincent de Paul, Sta. Cruz, Quiapo, Manila Cathedral, and San Agustin)
7. finished two interviews for a multinational company
6. spent quality time at Timezone (Mario Kart, DM2, Virtua Tennis 2... and 3!)
5. created a video with Mito (it won 3rd Best Video, the Nuncio Inspirational Award, and an acting award for Rex!)
4. had the longest day of my life (so far). 24: Marvs Style
3. bonded a lot with MMAers
2. completed the redefense, passed thesis!, got MOTA nomination, but did not win any medal because of some not-so-open-minded panelists

-and... (drum roll please)-

1. sent a file (wonderful, eh? )

Tomorrow, I will know my fate. Let's just leave it at that.

P.S. Whatever tomorrow brings... I guess I'm ready.

Hello REAL World!

Posted by special_child at 02:01 AM on April 20, 2006 as a favorite post.

It's over!

I am pleased to tell myself that I have surpassed 16 years of studying, and after the final blow... (yes, people, I passed my Chemistry 2 course, thank goodness) I am graduating this June!

It's nice to know that I'm finally leaving studying behind. However, there are certain luxuries I am also reluctant to leave with it, examples of which are overnights, tons of cramming time, joining student orgs, wearing uniforms (I didn't enjoy this, really, but come to think of it sometime in your life you'd wish you're still wearing them just to make yourself feel young), participating at almost every imaginable contest known to man, making fun of teachers and professors (sorry, but it's really part of my student life haha), and a lot of stuff. But it all comes down to one thing. I would miss being young.

No, it doesn't mean that moving on to the real world entails being old. It just means you have to be more mature. And being mature doesn't really mean being old (ah heck, who am I kidding? ). But there are a lot of things I wish I could have done when I was a student (ouch, it's past tense! I'm not a student anymore! ).

It's hard to let go. Three days into entering the so-called real world, and here I am again longing for high school or even elementary. There's such joy in it that I would miss when I start to wear corporate clothes almost everyday, or when I start to reminisce that part of my life over merienda or coffee breaks.

I'll just face the world with my minimal experience, commuting, computing, and communicating skills, and my usual wardrobe. As time goes by, I know that experience would eventually give me the strength to adapt. But to let go and forget? That won't happen.

Saying farewell to student life means saying farewell to teen life. And I don't want that. I am a student of life, and I am a teen for life. With added benefits, of course.

Top Ten Things To Do Before Graduating

10. swim at the sports complex's swimming pool
9. play every game that could be played in the sports complex again
8. visit the school museum again
7. buy a school jacket
6. participate in the PasiCATCHan (DONE!)
5. buy a Starbucks (Vito Cruz) frappe at 1 AM wearing pajamas
4. get a "Tabula Rasa" from the lobby
3. hit a homerunner in the soccer field
2. go inside STRC

-and... (drum roll please)-

1. do the Pawie thing! (hahaha)

Some of the things in the list would be hard to accomplish, but I'd still try. Oh, and I'd share a comment I got from the entry where I last posted this Top Ten List. It says, "It was fun to have you as one of my singers. Kahit na napaka-tahimik mo..." (please comment on this. I'm not a quiet person... am I? Well, during practices I was quiet. Hahaha.)
