First Stab

Posted by special_child at 01:10 AM on September 5, 2005 as a favorite post.

Now why did the second stab go before the first?

That is because this teambuilding came after the EA one, and it is my first with Green & White. This happened from 1 - 3 September at Pranjetto Hills in Tanay, Rizal. I remember I said to myself I cannot be late, but yes I was late. Ten minutes after I arrived the bus left, approximately an hour later than its original schedule. It was, in my opinion, the dullest bus ride I've ever had, particularly because I was supposed to know these people but I had no opportunity talking with them. First-year-first-term's coming back again.

When we arrived, I can feel the big and cold shoulder rubbing against me. I was really regretting my decision to join the teambuilding. It was even so quiet in our room. I was with three CCS guys and one from CBE, and no one was that talkative. The desperation to bond really didn't leave me, and I think I'll fail my mission.

But then again, God was good to me. After feeling this depression, a big swing hit my luck and it jumped as high as before. The OP Meter went down by the hour, and by Day 2 I was telling jokes and mind games, some of which I just learned from the EA Teambuilding eight days ago. So my special thanks are extended to Franz, Toffee, and Dan.

In the end, there are a lot of things I was happy for, some of which I will place in today's Top Ten List. But my shoutouts are to the following people: to the EB for picking me as Mr. Talentado, to Mich for just being there and nagging me to sign a particular square in her Human Bingo card, to my 102 roommates for keeping secrets safe inside the Circle of Trust, to Pranz for a wonderful sharing, to my Yellow Tutu groupmates for being one of the best groups I've worked with, to my Ad Campaign groupmates for sharing your ideas, to the Lit Team for being such a nice mini-family to me, and to everyone who joined because now I can say I enjoyed your company!

Top Ten Events That Transpired During The Teambuilding

10. swimming pool activities
9. mind games and jokes we all shared
8. the combination of eggs and flour to make natural face paint
7. blind initiation
6. the "talent show"
5. the auction and the fun activity afterwards (no egg breaking for Yellow Tutu!)
4. positive backstabbing and lovenotes
3. Yellow Tutu! (works best in interpreting drawings hahaha)
2. 102 sharing (which should be kept hush)

-and... (drum roll please)-

1. Kellyn's surprise birthday party!

I also have to shout my apologies for those people whom I haven't given my lovenote. I didn't have the luxury of time to finish it all, but rest assured, you all made a mark in me!

Unfinished Business

Posted by special_child at 03:18 AM on September 24, 2005 as a favorite post.

After almost 20 days of not posting, here I am again. :|

WARNING: For an optimist like me, this is one of the most pessimistic entries I have ever written, and perhaps will ever write.

Unbelievable. After the two great teambuildings, here I am wishing it's term break again. A lot of things has happened, and most of them are to the negative side of life. With a lot of things to do and a limited time of doing it at home, it's really a very surreal feeling, considering that sometimes I really stay up late. Now (or at least until September ends, so wake me up ) I can't.

But the reason I'm posting this entry is because this day was yet again one of the most unproductive days in my entire life. I think that sleeping the whole day and just eating is not that unproductive. For me, unproductive means having things not done even when planned.

So, having said that, let me enumerate the things that should have been done today but was not done:

One, I should have taken two classes. I only took one.
Two, we should have had a thesis meeting. It was cancelled.
Three, after the meeting some friends of mine had planned to watch a movie and go hang out, like we usually do on a Friday. It was, again, cancelled.

Let me elaborate further on the last note. My text correspondent said the night before that she couldn't make it. That's understandable. Then by the next day, she sent me a message and said that no one could make it. The only person available had "yearbook chuva" to finish.

It turns out that "yearbook chuva" thing is catching the Survivor: Guatemala primetime telecast that night.

This actually enraged me. I have nothing against the show; I also watch it. But how pathetic is it to have reasoned out a "yearbook chuva" just to get away with watching a freaking TV show? Yes, my evil selfish self has again popped from its box. But I know I have all the right reasons for it popping out.

Later that evening while I was munching away on Strawberry and Cheese donuts from Cello's, he and his friend passed by. I deliberately hid behind one of the pillars, but apparently they bought donuts so they saw me. Out of courtesy I just waved back. But he came back and asked me if I was going the next day (today) with them.

Scenario: It was planned that we'd watch movies Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Different scenarios. Different places. Thursday was cancelled. Friday went the same way.

So I kept on asking if it was going to push through, maybe about five times. And his reply?

"Isa pa, sipain ko mukha mo." (One more, and I'll kick your face.)

THE NERVE!!! X-(

Fine. You want to kick my face?! Go ahead, I won't stop you. And you're just inviting so that you'd have a tour guide with you when you go deep into the jungle that is UPD. Hello? Even students of UPD get lost in their own campus. How about me who's not a UPD student?

Wow. I completely lost it. So much so, this same scenario (of cancelling) has occurred before. But valid reasons were there, and I just let it pass. But today? NO.

Blogger's Note: I can't think of any Top Ten list. I am still fuming.

Back to optimism. I have to thank the following people for just plain being there, giving me enough reason not to lose my sanity a few hours ago: Joseph, Allan, and Luis for playing billiards with me; Mich, Reggie, Turo, Ralph, and Sondra for having donuts and fantasy-filled conversations; Green & White staff who were doing their residency then for keeping me company. You guys are fun!
