So Many Things

Why is it that I haven't been consistent in my blog updates?
Well... there are a lot of circumstances that forced me not to open my computer and be the Netizen that I am. When I came back, I got sick. Tonsillitis got the better of me, and left me to stay indoors up to a week. It started Thursday American Idol finale (I might be partly affected of boring Carrie Underwood winning the competition), and if it weren't important to go to work the next day, I wouldn't have come.
That Friday (27 May) was the graduation for the Citibank Summer Internship Program 2005. And since this marked the end of it all (last day to see friends and Citibankers), I decided to come as well. A few hours before the actual program, we rehearsed for a performance, to be presented to all attendees of the graduation. Surprisingly, there weren’t any similarities between the performances of the six groups. All were unique and beautiful in their own ways, and I must say the people there enjoyed what we all did. There were also some awards, and I did not expect to get an Exemplary Award for my overall performance since I went away for the last two weeks. But seeing that both my companions in the department I was assigned to got Super Summer Intern Awards (this one’s the highest, what I got was second to it), I was contented.
I already forwarded the pictures I shot to the people who wanted to take a glimpse of it. Unfortunately, I won’t upload it to my Tabulas account since it’s too big. I’ll just send you an invite to view it if you want to.
Top Ten Most Memorable Things in Citibank
10. free food and/or drinks from supervisors
9. the noise we produce while maintaining professionalism
8. the fact that our supervisors were just seniors when we were freshmen
7. lunch-outs in different places and the constant struggle to find tables and seats for all
6. phone extensions (this helped us cope when we transferred to another floor, away from our friends)
5. the other struggle of finding someone to open the doors for you (whether the guard, an employee, or another practicum-er)
4. the different codenames for the different employees
3. the graduation and the different performances
2. the love teams and how there are certain “developments” in some
-and… (drum roll please)-
1. the friends we made! Citibank Comrades!
Although my stint in Citibank is far from over, I can say it's not a hindrance. With all the fun and laughter the employees and us OJT people are sharing, it's not surprising that both we and them find it fulfilling to work with each other.

And I'm not talking about ADHD.
The past three days has been all focused on my relatives, with my mom being first on the list. Last Saturday's her birthday, and I had a plan (which was a week in the making) for a good day. I wanted to surprise her by going to Tagaytay, treat her for lunch at Mushroomburger and have dinner at Sonya's. But some of the details went awry, including that one when we were supposed to go to a certain St.
Anne's Shrine but we ended up in a healing chapel which was also nice. And since we were commuting (a big hassle, really), there were times that she went mad because there were no jeeps or we can't go to this place. Honestly, if I hadn't reserved us seats at Sonya's, I doubt we'd go there. But all's well that ends well, she enjoyed the dinner and the scenery.
Independence day and the free President-declared holiday were all spent in Plaridel, not because we were really commemorating Marcelo H. del Pilar, but because there was a fiesta there. Every year it seems that when fiesta time comes a family reunion comes with it. This year was SO different from that. There were only a few pictures taken, yet a lot of food was still consumed. And despite the visitors being thirties shy of last year, it was still a lot of fun to go to where I spent a big chunk of my childhood days.
This is just sharing. I'll try to make my visual Top Ten List the moment I have spare time and have uploaded all the pictures.
Blogger's Note: I left the Top Ten List in Plaridel figuring out which one to eat first, the camaron rebosado or the embutido.
Fun, fun, fun. Afterwards? Work, work, work. Study, study, study.

P.S. I hope that a few moments later, I'll be seeing someone I missed physically for six months, but emotionally for almost four years.

The Tales of a Dance Maniac

Practice, practice, practice.
First, let me start with my views. In everything that I do, I try to be one of the best (
naks). And that includes hobbies. So if I play a game, I make sure that my skills there are above average. Rarely do I play new games, but rest assured that after a month's worth of playing I will be worthy of challenging.
And with the likes of badminton, billiards, Virtua Fighter, Dead or Alive, Tekken, Virtua Tennis 2, and Beach Spikers, so comes Dance Maniax 2. I have been playing this game since I was invited to play by my friends, and now I think (and so do other people) that I am a certified addict. Hahaha. Or I can say it's just practice.
Whenever I come to play this game, I see a lot of people also trying their best to play. There are some people who've already memorized the moves; there are others trying out the game because of the aforementioned people. Celebrities, "stars", common people... it's a wonder as to how many people this machine meets everyday.
Last Sunday was no exception. As I always am in Makati (we consider it "Family Day", so we go to Makati to celebrate Mass and go strolling in Glorietta), it was my habit of going to Timezone for me to play. A lot of people were waiting in line for their stint in dancing with their hands/feet/hips (for some).
There were these two newbies who were so excited to play, they wanted the machine for themselves. Not until some players swiped in their credits (technique to prevent turn hugging) did they realize there were a lot of people waiting for them to finish. What's funny is that when they were about to leave, they were picking up their things when suddenly one of them dropped the Wendy's Biggie Coke she was holding.
SPILL.
After the cleanup, then came the girl wearing the skirt. I saw her dancing Wild songs (those are the harder ones as opposed to Mild songs) with all stars lit. When she saw me, she uttered, "
Diba andito ka rin nung isang araw?" I answered, "Actually, last Sunday.
Nun kita nakita, remember?" I really liked her at first, but knowing her attitude and seeing her face the second time made me realize she wasn't that beautiful. At all. I think she's there just to show off: when she mistakenly chose a Mild song, all the blue markers (which should be tagged with a swipe at the lower sensors) she completed using her hips! What a show-off.
The next one was another girl, wearing boots with high heels. She was eager to show off as well; though she's also good, she wanted to do what the girl-in-skirt did. So she was randomly using her feet for the blue markers, when all of a sudden she
skidded... (insert a smirk and an almost laugh here) as her reflexes worked she used her hands to hold the sensors and balance herself, then continued her dance. Hahaha.
Why did she skid? Refer to the SPILL above.
Then there were a group of three who were dancing (blimey, they were all good, doing Happy-Hopper levels of dancing; I needed even more practice), and then all of a sudden they were talking to this person - one of my Lasallian crushes! Heheheh... (I won't say who

) but it might be that these dancing people are from La Salle as well.
There were a lot of other people, but aside from the dancing couple (who are also good) and the other solo peeps doing hard Wild songs or Double songs, there aren't any others worthy of mentioning.

Or maybe I'm just tired and wants to go to sleep already.

P.S. As an added note, the spillers returned and danced for more than five turns (making the other people do the technique again).
